Bottle from the brewpub. Pours clear dark copper brown with profuse but stable tan head. Clear aroma of nuts and caramel malt, with touches of cocoa and yeast. Bitter, roasty flavour with notes of nuts and cocoa and touches of malt, caramel and vanilla sugar. Bitter, roasty aftertaste with estery touches and hints of lactose. Reasonable.

Bottle 33 cl. Pours an almost opaque black with only a very vague, orange hue and a creamy, beige head. Much darker than most Brown Ales. Surprisingly little aroma, no real roast, only a sweet edge - vanillaish. Medium body, sweet - almost like milk chocolate - yet with a late, roasty note that creates some balance. Sort of odd but not exactly undrinkable. Confusing how looks and taste don't really work together. 100521

ABV: 6.2%. Cloudy dark brown colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to light beige head. Aroma is moderate malty, dark malt, toasted - roasted, light cocoa, light chocolate - vanilla, moderate yeasty, fruity yeast. Flavor is moderate sweet with a long duration, sweet malt, cocoa, chocolate, lactose - milk chocolate, vanilla, light yeast - sweet yeast. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. [20200507]
