Ridgeback staat bekend om zijn complexiteit in smaak en zijn hoge alcoholpercentage. Een hoger suikergehalte en alcoholpercentage maakt het bier zoet en het krijgt daardoor ook duidelijke tonen van karamel en Haagse Hopjes.

On tap @EurHop 2019 (Rome). Ambrata carica/bruna intensa, schiuma avorio. Al naso note di caramello, toffee, leggero medicinale, etilico. In bocca è dolce all'attacco con chiusura amara, spigolosa, leggera astringenza. Corpo pieno, carbonazione media. Interessante. ma va rifinito.

F: thin, tanned, average retention. C: dark brown with brown red hue against the light. A: rich malty, bit chocolate, molasses, dried fruits, mellow fruity. T: rich sweet malty, bit oily mouthfeel, toffee, bit roasted tones, chocolate, dried fruits, dates, raisins, caramel, nice balanced bitterness, full body, lower carbonation, this is better than I expected, fully enjoyed, 33cl bottle from Beerwulf webshop.

Aus der Flasche im 2018-10 getrunken. Dies ist ein typischen Imperial Russian Stout. Dies hat nichts von einen Barley Wine. Kalt ist es recht hopfig mit etwas Karamell. Wird es wärmer werden kaffeeartige Röstnoten immer dominierender und auch die Süße nimmt zu. Im Abgang kommen den deutlich die bitteren Röstaromen in den Vordergrund.

Tap at Foeders, Amsterdam, 17th October 18. Pours a deep dark mahogany brown with a lovely bubbly white head. Aroma is burnt sugar and cararmel. Taste is sweet and bitter, burnt sugar, crispy caramel, creme brûlée topping. Very enjoyable bitter sweet balanced Barley

Bottle from Boxbeers. Hazy very dark brown with a beige head. Aroma is sweet, malty, caramel, dried fruit and light hoppy. Flavor is quite sweet and rather bitter. Dry and rather bitter finish with warming alcohol. 070918

From tap. Pours clear and golden deep hazzlenut brown, small white head. Aroma is dense malty. Roasted. Breadish. Dark malty. Sweet, dense malty. Alcohol warming. Dry and roasted dark malty. Thick mouthfeel. Dry and roasted finish.
