Fles gedeeld door Inoven, geprobeerd met familie op tweede kerstdag. Het is een donkerbruin bier met een medium beige schuim. Het heeft een aroma van gedroogd fruit. De smaak is vol, gebrande mout, rood fruit en caramel.

Dark mahogany colour, one inch of dense creamy beige head which lasts for several minutes; aroma and taste of prune, dried sour cherry, figs, dates, biscuity, burnt sugary-caramel, some cocoa, maybe anise and moderate alcoholic spiciness; great one!

Bottled 750ml. -at Ambasada Zagreb. Vintage 2023. Almost black coloured, medium sized beige head, spices and alcohol in the nose. Sweet malty, raisins, caramel, dried fruits, moderate alcohol and light spicy notes in the finish. Bit boozy but surprisingly not so sweet.

Bottle, 2023, 75cl. I've had Kerkom Winterkoninkske Grand Cru before and apparently this beer is renamed Winterbinkske Grand Cru when De Ranke took over Kerkom in 2022 and the recipe is slightly changed by adding Juniper. Label is still Kerkom, De Ranke influences are recognizable by the 2023 neck label, which is also used on some 75cl De Ranke bottles. So... compared with the previous Winterkoninkske Grand Cru: Color: Still Very dark ruby, almost black, thin beige head. No changes. Aroma: Dark roasted malt, coffee, licorice. Maybe little hints of Juniper, but I wouldn't have recognized this when I didn't know about the change of recipe. Taste: Dark roasted malt, lightly boozy, some dark coffee, and some licorice, some oak tannins. Hoppy backbone, Over medium to full body, just below average carbonation. Juniper? Yes, when you know it, it's recognizable but subtle. Would like to have had the chance to taste both version side by side, but unfortunately that won't happen. There sure is a similarity though: Both versions are very nice.
