The fanged frog of Thailand is a diabolical beast of the forest. In its honor we loaded this English-style barleywine ale with bundles of Thai chili peppers to make a spicy brew that would bring the heat of the jungle to your taste buds. Balanced by sweet caramel malt that is reminiscent of black treacle, this brew will bring out the devil in you!

250ml can from Tavour. Dark, clear brown pour, fizzy head settles down to leave a light film of bubbles. Aroma is malty and sweet with a booziness that will singe your nose hairs. Taste starts with the booze, notes of caramel, sweet, leather, raisins. The warmth lingers for a bit, almost a burn, but a pleasant feeling all told.

8.45 ounce can ( I Think) from Tavour. Mahogany brown color. Small creamy tan cap. Boozy, roasty, sweet malt aroma. Notes of dates, caramel and baklava. First sip is burning alcohol and bittersweet toasted malt. Sticky mouthfeel. Lots of chili heat. I think I’m being possessed!

1/4 litre can from Tavour. Pours clear mahogany with a moderate creamy beige head. Aroma of caramel and a bit of heat. Full bodied. Flavor is fairly hot chili pepper with heat and a sort of heavy Kraft caramel. Mostly chili pepper. The pepper moderates with time. Pretty good flavor after the palate accomdates.
