It ain’t easy with a Baltic Porter, and especially not with its imperial version. The stakes are high and it comes down to this: Go big or go home. This beer HAS TO BE good, otherwise its existence is pointless.

Super strong starting extract (26° Plato),loads of chocolatey and burnt malt, plenty of warming up alcohol, distinctive coffee, chocolate, nuts, prunes flavours. And above all, matching bitterness, one that doesn’t overwhelm, but rather encompasses all flavours beautifully.

Be sure to try our barrel aged Ragnars – Floki, Björn and Ivar – as well!

Before drinking, don’t forget to check who Ragnar was!

Tasting at Matt's
Oily black colour. Interesting aroma, dark malts, hay, biscuits, treacle, fire oven bread crust; intense and very nice. Strong mouthfeel, dark chocolate flavour, a bit salty, old wood, mild ashes in the finish, and very good alcohol management.
Excellent.

330mL bottle, pours jet black with a tiny beige head. Nose is refined and elegant, with vanilla, light roast, and a touch of smoke. Flavour is fairly dry, seeming more like an oatmeal stout, with oats, medium roast, and a tiny hint of vanilla. Not much residual sweetness, with low carbonation. Probably not worthy of the status it has apparently attained, but it's certainly a solid beer.
