Pours amber brown. It smells of ginger and caramel malt. It has a sweet, malty, caramel flavor with a quite forward ginger taste. Good thing I like ginger. Medium bodied.

Dark brown coloured body with a thick, five to six centimetre tall off-white head and light-brownish that stays afloat for a long time. Aroma of deep and robust allspice, canella, cloves and especially anise with some licorice notes, a ton of caramelised sugars, toffee, treacle and pitted fruits. Medium to Full-bodied; Rich malty flavours dominate with a ton of sweetness and rich fruits here, really showing off the pitted fruits, raisins, figs and grains, with a good kick of nuts and rustic qualities too. Aftertaste shows some caramel, toffee, molasses, plums, raisins, lactose, nuts and earthy malts with a good deal of additional sugars and a lot of malt richness, but good throughout with a good complexity at the end. Overall, a very nice, spiced, full-flavoured and full-bodied beer that hits the marks exceptionally well for the season and the style. Great to sample and a nice option for the chilly, Christmas Season! I sampled this sixteen ounce pint-sized can purchased from Total Wine  in Alexandria (Potomac Yard), Virginia on 27-June-2022 for US$5,29, with a 'best by' 11-February-2022 and sampled on the train back home from New York with my wife and kids on 04-December-2022 sampled as Day #3 of my 2022 Beer Advent Calendar (self-created) while away visiting for Christmas with my family.

Sampled from the tap at the brewery. Pours a clear amber brown with a tan head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has lots of ginger with a good amount of molasses and bread backing. Flavor has strong ginger throughout with a bit of sweet bread and molasses supporting.

Can from Total Wine in Folsom, CA. Pours very dark, but against a strong LED it's clear and red. Slight tan head. Aroma is ginger and treacle - reminds of some sort of cookie. Med plus body. Flavor is ginger and treacle with some darkish/toffeeish malt. Not very dry, but the ginger certainly masters the malt. Different, but pleasing.

Can (best by 2/22/21) pour from The Beer Store, Nashua. Appearance is a deeply hazy dark brown-burgundy with decent sparkle, finger-width beige head with fair retention and no lacing. Aroma is strong vanilla, toffee, allspice. Taste is strong toffee, allspice, brown sugar, vanilla, mild ginger. Mouthfeel is medium side of light-to-medium bodied with smooth texture, average-to-lively carbonation and finish as taste. Overall, seems to have held up pretty well, given age. Nice complexity. A little over carbonated.
