Don’t let the dark color fool you, our traditional German-style Schwarzbier is deceivingly light, with a subtle malt and roast presence. To us, we’d gladly drink this beer year round, but there is something about the warmth in the roasty chocolate flavors that pairs perfectly with snowy weather.

Pint can, 2/8/24. Clear dark red, large tan head, average retention (maybe below average but not poor). Aroma of roast, chocolate, earth, cherry. Taste is roast, chocolate, earth, cherry, raisin. Well balanced. Very nice. New brewery! Brewery #2267, USA #1863, Ill # 84.

16oz can. Solid example of the style. Deep toasty black malt tone, but clean and well attenuated. Full and rich for the moderate ABV. Good.

Sampled from the tap at the brewery. Pours near black with a grayish brown head that lasts throughout the beer. Aroma has a good of light roast and dark bread with a hint of earthy smoke underlying. Flavor has a nice light roast and chalky dark grain with a bit of bread in the finish.

16 oz. can. Pours brown in the glass, with light to ruby highlights, a nice thick head. Light roast grain smell, not much more to find at the moment. Taste is straight on to the style: light grain roast, peppery Noble hop sides. A bit of treacle sweetness, yet each sip finishes dry.
