Nascent Truth Double Coconut is a pure barrel-aged expression of Truth assembled from several standout barrels, aged for just over a year, and then conditioned upon hundreds of pounds of coconut. It is a remarkably rich beer that masterfully weaves a potent young barrel character with a chocolate-forward base, and then explodes with unapologetic waves of intense coconut flavor. Pouring like chocolate syrup in the glass, Nascent Truth Double Coconut is a bounty of coconut fudge, bourbon, vanilla, and creamy cocoa character. Relish it now or let it evolve cold for several years before opening.

Their website says 10 oz pour as opposed to the usual 10 oz draught. I still think it's draught, but there's a chance it's a bottle pour. In any case, sampled 10/29/24. Dark, burnt-magenta highlights, dark tan head. Undetermined clarity. Low retention. Initially it's all heavy coconut/Mounds candy bar. In the mouth it's thick, rich, viscous, syrupy, sweet, full of coconut and rich, fudgey malts. Wanting the barrel to swoop in and rescue it from all this sweetness, but it doesn't quite seem to. It does help, adding tannin, earth, ash and light pepper, but can't really break through this wall of sweet syrup. There's a bit of lingering oxidation that helps. No booze, though, and it's not TOO sweet (though, like the base, it's pushing it). But the coconut is killer, as always, from Tree House.
