On tap at San Marcos, pours a deep dark brown with a reddish tinge and a medium light brown head. Aroma brings out dry cocoa, light roast and some chalk. Flavour is very bitter, with bitter dry cocoa and light roast. Metallic and astringent. Not a good oatmeal stout.

Draft. A brown beer with a lazing brown head. The aroma has notes of sweet and roasted malt. The flavor is sweet with light notes of roasted malt, which also lends it a bit of acidity, leading to a roasted finish. The body is light.

From tap at the brewpub. Pours pitch black and with a small tan and dense creamy head. Roasted and dark malty aroma. Roasted malt flavoured, sweet oatish and lighttouch of burned/smoke accents. Lasting sweet malty flavoured into the far finish.

On tap. Pours black and opaque with a creamy light brown head. Roasted malt in the nose with a lightly fusty edge. Medium body, hard roasted malt, a little licorice and again a light fustiness. Finishes dry without any real bitterness. 070709

Sample at the brewpub. This Stout pours nearly black with ruby around the edges. Foamy and thin beige head that burns away steadily, and a sheet of lacing. Roasty aroma of malt and coffee. Medium, dry body with flavors of coffee, roasted malt and some hops. The finish is dry and roasty with notes of coffee and bready malt, with a mild hops aftertaste left over. Above average overall, but not by a lot.
