Our version of an authentic English-style ale, generally the most "special" ale offered by the brewery. Made with imported Maris Otter malt and East Kent and Styrian Goldings hops.

Reviewed from notes.
The appearance was a copper color with a quarter finger’s worth of white foamy head. Quick fade, and no lace.
The aroma had some freshly cut grass, light wood and some biscuit-like malts. Light earthy/leathery side notes.
The flavor wants to be sweet but has that sneaky sort of earthy/herbal/biscuit malty dryness flowing over some cereal/earthy/barnyard leafiness. Aftertaste is all about the malts with a quick snappy sort of earthy finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair sessionability about it. Sturdy carbonation and decent ABV.
Overall, tis good. I’d have again with some fish and chips.

Dark nutty brown color, off-white head. Nutty, mildly coffeish aroma. Palate is a bit on thin side. Flavor is dominated by woody-nutty malty flavors with some light and odd fruity notes. Very light licorice notes in the finish. Drinkable, but a bit bland to be in the "premium class" ESB.

This was one of the few saving graces of the terrible experience that was NYC Beer on the Pier - thankfully I got to try this fine ale before I evacuated what was sure to become a huge frat boy grab ass and vomit party - this reminded me very much of another quality local ESB, Blue Point - much like that beer, this ale struck a perfect balance between its bitter and malt (bread, biscuit) characteristics - it had an almost creamy mouthfeel, and a lot of yeasty notes, especially for the style - I revisited this beer a couple of times before I high-tailed it out of there.
