Many of the highest rated beers in the country have a similar characteristic: a juice-like profile stemming from evolutionary hopping techniques. The Lupujus 7 (named after the Latin taxonomy for hops: humulus lupulus) was the first of our Signature Series of New England IPAs brewed in a style that we introduced to Montana. At 4lbs of hops per barrel, this is one of our most heavily hopped beers, but is done so in creative ways to minimize the bitterness of the hops and accentuate their “juiciness.” This particular batch is extravagantly double dry-hopped at ideal moments to allow the yeast to interact with the hops, thus creating a biotransformation of the two substances that results in something magical. It mirrors the vision of this brewery: combine different ingredients to create a transcendent and positive impact on society. Enjoy. Celebrate. Make an impact.

Poured from 473mL can (no date stamp). Hazy yellow gold with small white head. Lightly juicy citrus and stonefruit hops, on the cleaner end of hazies, decent.

Aromas are citrus pit, house dust, dry grain and maybe a little stone fruit. Flavors are similar to nose, bittersweet up front with just right carbonation going to a slightly sweet finish. But then also a little lingering bitter. Somehow carbonation goes a bit soft. Good but not great.

16 oz can. Aroma of candied orange, mild herb, wheat. Flavor is a carbon copy. Good amount of citrus and mild herb with a juicy texture. Almost no bitterness. So it definitely follows the style guideline. Decent.

Taster at City Vineyard. Pours a hazy, yellow color, with an average, foamy, white head. The aroma is pineapple, green apple, butterscotch, musty hay barn, and coriander. Sweet and malty, with a drying, mellow bitterness. Light to medium body, crisp, and almost fluffy. A bit acidic. Unique and delicious.

Can from Tavour. Pours mildly hazy gold with a decent white head. Aroma of citrus and mango. Med body at least. Somewhat juicy. Not dry, but not sticky. Flavor seems mango and citrus, perhaps zest as well. Lots of hop. More than moderately bitter. Excellent flavor.
