A saison with Hallertau hops
Alicel is a saison with earthy and herbal notes. Dry hopped with German-grown Hallertau Mittelfrüh, it showcases everything we love about this classic, old-world hop.
(from Batch 4 label)
Alicel is an exploration of the elegance of the noble hop, Hallertau Mittelfrüh. Hallertau has fallen out of the spotlight. As we often do, we took the less traveled approach to celebrate this hop – delicate and herbal. Brewed and dry-hopped with 3#s per barrel of Hallertau, Alicel has beautiful floral notes of honeydew melons and cucumbers and aromas that transport you to an early spring herb garden. Working with Linc Malts, we used a hint of raw wheat and Francin barley grown by Trico Farm in Island City, OR. Named after an unincorporated town adjacent to where our grain is grown in Eastern Oregon, Alicel ‘shows up on the map’. It’s right up the road from the farm, but all that is there now is the local grain elevator.
