Keg at Scaredy Cats Cafe, Cardiff. Dark brown and just a tiny bit translucent with a ring of khaki head. Aroma of molasses and salted caramel, boozy dates. Sweet taste, bursting with treacle and date notes leading to a short finish. Body is light for the ABV with carbonation on the soft side. Not a life-changer but I'm always thrilled to welcome a new eisbock into my life.

Keg at BD Camden. Aroma is very sweet - burnt demerara sugar and figs. Opaque dark brown. Creamy beige head thins out. There's an underlying Christmasy joint of malts, dark fruit and rye. However this is is forced down by a boozy streak. Liquorice and black coffee develop late on. Medium-heavy bodied. Creamy. Average carbonation. Long some astringent finish... it's the booze.
