We love saisons and wanna help in making sure that this phenomenal beer style is not forgotten amongst all new trendy beer styles - so we took our base saison recipe using mostly pilsner malt and wheat malt and bought a whole lot of fresh basil and smashed with our bare hands and threw into the fermentation vessel. Upon kegging, we mixed in some lime juice to add complexity and tartness.

On keg at Brewdog Lothian Rd, Edinburgh. Appearance - golden with a light haze. Nicely proportioned head. Nose - stinky umami thing. Eggs and light spice. Taste - much cleaner. Pineapple chunks and lavender. Suppose that'll be the basil. Palate - light to medium bodied with a tangy middle and finish. Overall - the taste is a massive improvement on the nose which was challenging to say the least.

Keg at BD 7D, 18/10/18. Golden orange with a decent off white cap. Nose is grassy, citric peel, lemon rind, straw, grains. Taste comprises light herb, straw, yeast esters, orange peel, light basil notes, grass, stale bread, toastedgrains. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Good balance and not silly amounts of basil ... quite a classic and refreshing saison profile. Decent.

On tap at BrewDog Soho Collabfest 2018. Hazy pale gold colour lasting white head. Light lemon saison flavour and character. A little sour on aroma. Better in mouth. Some light basil flavour comes through but never dominant. Decent. Improved as I drank it.
