On tap at the Southey Brewery & Taproom. Nose is chocolate pudding, caramel, light smoke, liquorice toffee. Taste is dark chocolate, coffee, cocoa, splash of bonfire toffee. Sweet, malty & lightly bitter.

Draft at Southey Brewery, Penge 28/11/2025 Sweet and roasted malty with notes of chocolate, some dark caramel, brown sugar sprinkle, medium body, roasted sweet dark malty finish.

From tap at the brewpub with JFE 01.10.22. Ebony. Diminishing brown head. Fine aroma and taste of dark chocolate, coffee, juniper, liquorice and a fine hint of smoke. Good!

ABV: 5.5%. Clear dark dark brown colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, dark malt, sweet malt, oat, light chocolate, light coffee. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and light bitter with a average duration, oat, sweet malt, dark malt, roasted, light chocolate, light coffee, malty. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. [20220429]

Can thanks to cgarvieuk. Appearance - deep brown to black with a thin but attractive tan head. Nose - toffee to molasses, chocolate and spice cake. Taste - dry and roasty rather than expected oatmeal. Burnt toffee. Palate - medium bodied and roasty finish. Overall - good, if a little thin for oatmeal style.
