Rated November 2010. Courtesy of markwise. Thanks Mark, I’ve been wanting to try this for years now. Pours deep darkness with thin tan head. The aroma is rich and yummy initially as the freshly popped elixir fills the air with its goodness. I get chocolate, molasses, brown sugar and dark roasted malts all coming together in pleasing harmony. The taste is similar with black strap molasses, chocolate, dark roasted malts, dark roasted coffee and a sweet sense of vanilla. Nice.

Bottled. A deep red beer with a thin tan head. The aroma is sweet with notes of malt, alcohol, and roasted malt. The flavor is sweet malty combined with notes of roasted malt as lighter notes of soy sauce, leding to a dry roasted finish. Thanks Papsoe for sharing.

Bottle. Ruby-black beer with a tan head. Chocolate/roasty aroma. Roasty, nutty, caramel flavor with enough hops to back. Medium bodied. Lingering caramel, roast, light bittering.

Aromas of chocolate, coffee, darkly toasted malt. Opaque brown/black color with a tan head that endures. Thinnish, lightly carbonated. Starts with coffee, toasted malt (almost like the really old Guinness), and a light touch of chocolate. Dry it is. Very nice bitter to go with the carbonized malt in the finish. Really quite good.
