On cask at Main Street, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma is very gentle, with toasted malt and not much else. Flavour is much the same, with toasted malt, a hint of cocoa, and a dry earthy finish. Clean and decently constructed but pretty boring.

5oz cask pour at brewery. Pours opaque dark brown with beige head. Aroma has toasty malts, some coconut. Flavour has toasted malts, gentle coconut. Simple, but good roast incorporated with some tropical notes. Pretty solid tropical stout.

Dark brown and a bit murky, thin and sour this is way off. That's too bad, but tartness in this style is minor at most.

Cask at the brewery
Black colour with creamy tan head. Light roasted malt aroma. The roasted malt flavour is delicate, complex, elegant, creamy, with notes of dark chocolate; very light residual sweetness.
I don't know what they were targeting, but it's excellent.
