Jasmine Green Tea Blonde Ale

Brewed with a base of Canadian Pilsner malt along with some Rice flakes some darker malts for contrast. The base is light and crisp and lightly hopped with Vista and Tettnang.

We then worked with our good pals over at Great Wall Tea in the New West Quay, who helped create the perfect blend for us. The combination of their Organic Jasmine Green and Organic Jasmine Dragon Tears was lovingly steeped and then blended into the beer as it conditioned.

The result is a beautiful fusion of beer and tea flavours and aromas. Delicately floral, smoothly herbaceous. Balanced by a gentle malt sweetness with pleasing biscuit notes.

We hope this evokes pleasant memories of Dim Sum afternoons with friends, enjoying good company and tasty bites.

Flight pour at Steamworks Mt Pleasant. Pours clear pale gold with white head. Aroma has gentle floral notes and biscuit malts. Flavour has a ton of vegetal notes, biscuit malts, with some slightly astringent jasmine on the finish. Not very good.

On tap at Steel & Oak, pours a clear pale golden blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out gentle jasmine and lightly sweet biscuity malt. Flavour is subtle, with dry biscuity malt and only a subtle hint of jasmine. I'd like more of the jasmine. It's alright; underwhelming and uninteresting.

Just a slight haze. Blonde colour. Thin head. Mellow malt that's slightly biscuity. Tea lends a bit of tannins, but that seems to be about it.
