Reminiscent of the classic Canadian dessert, Nanaimo treats you to flavours of melted milk chocolate, vanilla custard, and toasted coconut. Rich and creamy, this decadent imperial stout finishes with a warming sweetness.

473mL can. Pours brown with white head. Aroma has vague roasted malts. Flavour has some chocolate and roasted malts. I remember this being much better, tastes like a pastry brown ale.

Medium brown colour...not really the right colour for an imperial stout. No head. Aroma is thin, gutted, lifeless. Like there's nothing in here but maybe a bit of vanilla. On the palate, a bit more body, some residual sugar. No evidence of stout base. A bit of vanilla. I mean if it's a Nanaimo bar stout, it's like the 7-Eleven palm oil Nanaimo bar. Propeller owes the city of Nanaimo an apology.

473mL can, pours a deep dark reddish brown with a small off-white head. Aroma is very light -- just a bunch of bready malt and sugars -- the hell? Flavour is very muted and light, with gentle vanilla, bready malt, and a touch of brown sugar. I would have guessed this was a 5% brown ale. Very light and lacklustre. No off-notes but it just doesn't deliver anything close to advertised.

Poured from 473mL can (thanks Brewnoser Jeff P). Clear-ish dark brown with minimal beige head (this is an imperial stout?). Mild chocolate and vanilla, not picking up coconut here. Quite thin. What is decadent (or even nanaimo bar) about this? Disappointing for a pastry imperial stout.

16oz (thx, Ryan!) @ Matt's house. Appearance: copper with a beige head. Aroma: dark fruits sweetness, thin. Taste: along the same lines, some harsh bitterness, moderately sweet. Overall: meh. This is not even a stout, like an imperial(ish) brown ale, but definitely not a stout, not even saying a pastry one.
