This complex farmhouse ale is brewed with a mix of all PEI malt and aged on local Lucie Kuhlmann grapes from Rollo Bay PEI. Deep red in color Rouge is a tannic, balanced, foeder aged farmhouse ale that imparts a juicy wine-like characteristic blended with the classic acidity and brettanomyces flavours derived from our house culture.

500mL bottle. Pours murky red with white head. Aroma has tannic grape skins, wood, some musty earthiness. Flavour has tannic grape skins, some acetic acid; a bit vegetal. I don't hate this, but I definitely don't love it either.

Red-brown colour. On the nose, it's got a bit of foeder and vinegar, with vinous action. On the palate, there's some diacetyl on this, not sure, but there's something not quite right. Maybe it's more of a dms/sauerkraut sort of thing. It's thin, with a light tartness. Overall, I like the idea but too bad on the execution.

500mL bottle, pours a murky dark amber red with a small off-white head. Nose has plenty of brett upfront, with some light oak, and musty breadiness. Flavour has a strange, subtle off-note (DMS?), with musty grape, light oak, and some musty brett. That off-note is definitely troublesome; it's not egregious, but something is not quite right.

500ml (thx, Brian!) @ Matt's house. Appearance: hazy copper with a white head. Aroma: some weird unpleasant herbal character, rustic notes, dirty, kinda fermented vegetables. Taste: along the same lines, balanced tartness. Overall: meh.

Poured from 500mL bottle. Hazy copper amber with small off white head. Dry, woody, fairly tannic, some off-flavour of something (can't pinpoint it - getting more on the nose than the taste).
