An ancient term for an elderberry beer. This superb porter combines organic elderberries grown at the brewery with black and chocolate malts to give a fruity roast finish.

Cask (gravity) @ #RHBCF2018 🧙‍🍻🇬🇧 [ The 11th Robin Hood Beer and Cider Festival (The 43th. Nottingham CAMRA Beer and Cider Festival) ], The Motorpoint Arena, Bolero Square, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, England NG1 1LA.

[ As Rother Valley Ebulem ].
ABV: 4.5%. Clear dark red brown colour with a small, frothy - fizzy and open, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, caramel, bread, sweet malt. Flavor is moderate sweet and light bitter with a average duration, roasted, dark malt, bread, light wood, medium dry. Did not get any elderberries - unless the light wood in flavor is that. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to flat. [20181019]

Cask at the Southampton Arms, London on 3rd November 2015. Deep reddish sepia with off-white decreasing foam and scant lacing. Very fruity aroma with berries and a touch of chocolate. Malty and fruity in-mouth with berries, touch of unsweet cola; sweet, fruity finish. Smooth mouthfeel and medium body. Rated as a novelty ale.
