Pour is a dark brown with a average tan head. Aroma is a nice roasty with some coffee. Flavor is about the same, a nice roasty malt with a minor coffee. Not a huge coffee for as much as they say they add but this pretty good all around.

On tap at Wet Dog Cafe, pours a deep dark reddish brown / black with a small beige head. Aroma brings out notes of oats, light toasted malt and roasted barley. Flavour is robust, with roasted barley, dark cocoa, and light coffee. Robust and wonderfully balanced. This is really well-done. Excellent.

Draught. Dark black/brown with beige head. Faint aroma, possibly served too cold. Full flavoured with roast malt and coffee flavours. Malty finish.

Dark ruby brown color, good creamy beige head, lace. Lots of chocolate in the toasted nose with hints of smoke. Medium-bodied. Sweetish front, some chocolate then finishing to more dry roasted aftertaste. Good shit.

Sample at the brewpub. First of all, awesome name. The beer is nearly black with a medium tan head that recedes steadily. Stringy lacing on the glass. Sweet roasted malt aroma with coffee notes. Medium body with coffee, roasted malt and mild chocolate flavors. The finish is dry and roasty with a short coffee aftertaste. Above average for the most part.

Portland trip. Sampled on draft at the brewery this beer poured a dark brown color with light ruby highlights and a medium sized tan head. The aroma was faint coffee and not much else. The flavor was sweet chocolate and moderate coffee with not a whole lot to fill it out. Medium finish. Somewhat thin. Ok.

Draft at the brewpub. Toasted malt aroma. Dark black color with a creamy tan head. Flavor is toasted malt, coffee, and a bit of chocolate. Finish is dry and coffee bitter. A smooth, robust porter.

Dark brown. Hazy. Light chocolatey aroma with a hint of nuttiness. Soft body, a little oily...almost falls flat until flashes of milk chocolate and another note salvage a beer that seemed to be going nowhere fast. The other note I almost want to say jaggery because of a coconut milk note but it’s more like something between jaggery and coconut sweetness. Either way, this didn’t do nearly as much for me as the rest of the lineup.
