Almost opaque ruby-black color, small beige head. Papery, smokey aroma with hints of caramel. Medium-bodied. Smoked bacon, caramalt, rye in the slighlty sweetish flavor. Somewhat Schlenkerla-like, hides alcohol well.

Pony Bar, 10th Ave Manhattan tap ($6): Pours dark brown with a brownish head. Aroma is smoky meat, roasted malts, and a bit of burnt chocolate, whatever it is that smells like. Taste is smoky. Heavy body and high alcohol content and seamlessly covered by this smooth high abv beer. Nice body, excellent balance. Ain’t much more a man could want.

On tap at Bridge View Tavern in SleepyHollow NY. Pours a jet black motor oil looking with small head. taste is thick with some smoke and toffee. kinda sweet and overall quite delicious
