[Hand bottle from growler by Clark VV on March 25th, leaked on the way to Jacob Lövenlund, sampled April 7th] An orange beer with no head. The aroma is very hoppy, but also with hints of alcohol. The flavor is slightly sour and very hoppy, and also contains alcohol, that gives the warmth and also prickles the tongue. I’d love to try this fresh. Thanks Clark for shipping this to Jacob.

On draught 3/19/05 at the brewery. Dark copper-orange body, with some lighter gold and yellow hues and a moderate amount of off-white head, slowly disipating. Chill haze to the body. Aroma smells like old doughy brown bread, slight hints of pepper, a large dose of caramelized/candied sugar sweetness and light herbal hops. A mild dryness from the alcohol is also perceptible. Flavor is near explosive, compared to the aroma. Opens up with a lovely mix of caramel and pils malt, with sticky residual sugar clinging to the palate. Succulent yeast notes are quickly apparent. Spiciness immediately butts in to keep things balanced and there are light orange zest notes. Alcohol is lightly apparent, but not raw and domineering. Nothing jumps out and screams at me here, which is wonderful, because it is all done well and in good proportion (balance). A bit of plastic on the end detracts somewhat, maybe a bit more orange flavor than I prefer, but it’s still a very well-made, rich, malty treat. Medium-full body, low carbonation.
