2004 draught. A highly experimental beer. Best fits in to amber ale, but it is quite unique. Pours a thick, HEAVILY clouded dark strawberry red with some light browns and oranges in the mix. It’s like watching a dry stout settle out after a pour. Good red tinged tan head. Smells wonderfully hoppy, lots of malt and light red fruit hints. Leafy and lightly earthy. Flavor is sweet at the beginning, with caramel malt and an almost vanilla iced cream sweetness. Light red raspberry hints and then a big burst of leafy, soily fresh hops. Tremendously fresh and not overdone. Balances perfectly against the malt, with a good bittersweet finish. Hints of pine and sap. The body is medium, but no thinning or wateriness and a moderate carbonation. Mouthfeel is soft, fuzzy and lightly chewy on the finish. Great brew, hopefully they keep making this one.
