Sample at the brewpub. This beer pours a clear dark copper color with a medium light beige head that dissipates steadily. Top ring of lacing on the glass. Aroma of caramel malt, yeast and fruit, Medium body with flavors of sweet caramel, earthy malt, dark fruit and yeast. The finish is malty with a sweet aftertaste. Above average overall.

Sampled at the Michigan Winter Beer Fest, Lansing. Orange-red body, medium off-white head. My prediction based on the first whiff of the muddled, fruity malt extract aroma was correct: this tasted like a homebrew, with little appropriate character or depth. Some banana and other dark fruits in addition to caramel. Earthy. The brewery could have easily called this about a dozen other styles, but, in reality, it’s mediocrity in a glass. My numbers are kind.

2004 draught. Deep caramel brown with some light burgundy hints and some mellow orange hues. No head, lightly bubbly and has an intersting lightly astringent malt smell. Light bubble gum, and esters. Flavor has alot of chewy bubble gum, hints of fruit esters, and a decent dose of caramel malt. A hint of citric flavoring, and a healthy dose of belgian yeast makes this quite drinkable, but not outstanding. Mostly dry, a bit too fizzy, with not a ton of complexity, but no major flaws.
