The base beer of this multigrain Belgian ale was missing something when it was 'finished' so we wanted to take it a step further. The fresh Woodford Reserve barrels arrived around the same time so this beer and those barrels seemed destined to meet up. So the ale was missing something: AND BOY DID IT FIND IT IN THOSE BARRELS! A beautiful golden colour and if gold would have a taste: this would definitely be it.

Bottle (thanks fatphil). Pours clear golden. Aroma is sweet, spicey, booze, floral. Flavor is sweet and bitter, spices, fruits, malt. Finish is sweet and some booze. Overall: ok.

hazy orange to bright amber colour, moderate sized, quickly disappearing off-white head; aroma of candied orange peel, dessert white wine, butterscotch, candied dried apricot, hints of honey and slight vanilla, as well as whisk notes; taste is the same with denfinite woody-whisky notes and syrupy sweetness...well, tripel is not the best style for whisky barrel aging - it does not have enough 'body' for it...

Bottle from Mitra Bunnik, BB 12-09-21. Hazy dark golden color, short frothy head. Aroma is grainy, slight spicy and has soft sweet vanilla notes. Slight sweet in taste, vanilla, bit booze and grainy malts. The BA this time makes the full bodied triple more complex and the sweetness drinkable. Still too boozy, way too expensive and a bit unbalanced. But this is not nearly as bad as their other recent releases.

Draught @ 9th. BBF 2017 [ 9th Borefts Beer Festival 2017 ] @ Brouwerij de Molen, Bodegraven, Netherlands. [ As De Molen Triple Gold BA ].Clear medium amber colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, sweet malt, caramel, light to moderate hoppy, moderate yeasty, triple yeast - belgium yeast, estery, wood, alcohol. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet with a long duration, sweet malt, alcohol, triple yeast, wood, estery. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft, finish feel is light alcoholic. Fra keg på Mother Kelly´s Bethnal Green, London 15 Okt 17. Mørk aprikosfarget. Grumsete. 0 skum. Lett plommearoma med hint av whisky. Smaken innholdsrik. Plommer, sherry & whisky. Godt integrert. Ettersmak av whisky.

AIBF 2017. Golden with white head. Aroma is honey, wood and malt. Some fennel seeds in taste. Tasty and interesting.

Keg at MK BG, 19/10/17. Golden orange with a decent off white cap. Nose is biscuit, caramel, grains, light whisky barrel aroma, sugars. Taste comprises light fruit esters, toffee, bourbon, mellow oak, vanilla, sweet tune in, fruit loaf. Full bodied, fine carbonation, warming alocohol in the close. Easy enough sipper but rather one dimensional and lacking depth.
