świeży zielony zapach - zioła, chmiel, słoma, trawa. odrobinę drożdży i karmelu. dość słodowy. kolor złoty, lekko zmętniony, piana obfita, dość trwała. w smaku wytrawny, ale wcale nie wodnisty. na pierwszy plan wychodzi przyjemna, średnia i mocno wyczuwalna goryczka - zioła, trawa. pozostawia ciekawy, trudny do określenia posmak. trochę jak woda po płukaniu ryżu, lekko słodki, lekko mączny. dość aksamitne i gładkie mimo wysokiego nasycenia. zdecydowanie ciekawe i warte polecenia piwo.

0,35 l can from Niigata prefecture store @ Omotesando. This one is using some koshihikari rice from Niigata prefecture. Pours with a foamy white top that is gone in a few seconds. Very clear. Aroma is sweet, no hops, no malts, more like corn sweetness or sweet ricecake. A little of acidity, making the aroma a bit more fresh. Tastes pretty much as it smells – some slight sweetness, almost no bitteness, pretty watery and slightly sour body with some corn sweetness. I guess this is quite average, easy-to-drink Asian lager where rice has been used to give some “authentic” taste. Unfortunately in this case it does not really add up to a good beer – I wish they were more radical and experimented more.

This brew pours a pale golden color with a thin and fizzy white head that evaporates gradually. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Grainy aroma with some hops behind it. Light-bodied with flavors of grainy malt, floral hops and a bit of fruit. The finish is mildly bitter with a grassy hops aftertaste. Slightly below average overall.

Blue Ocean, Fairfax bottle: Pours a pale gold with a small white head. Aroma is rice, a bit of hops, and sugar. Taste is somewhat sweet, with a nice little grainy bite. Refreshing and easy-drinking. It is very obviously Japanese. Not bad.

Bottle. Pale yellow color with whitish foamy small head, doughy aroma, strong doughy yeast flavor and sweetish bland taste. Poor excuse for a lager.

Bottle. Pale gold with a rapidly disappearing white head. Aroma is grainy and a bit corny with some grass. Thin. Taste is more pleasant than the aroma, and is slightly sweet with little bitterness but quite dry at the end so what bitterness there is lingers. There’s hay and perfumed rice and it’s all quite clean. Looks awful and the first sniff was pants, but really not bad at all after that.
