From old tasting notes. Clear reddish brown color. Creamy tan head. Sweet roasted malt nose. Zesty, bittersweet malt flavor. Interesting dry hoppy finish with a hint of sweetness. Bitter hop aftertaste. Good flavor. Lacks any Rich maltiness, but is full bodied.

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Hazy, orangey brown with a rough, off-white head. Lovely concentrated aroma of roasted malt. Quite full-bodied with lots of sweetish, roasted malt - almost nutty. Very subdued bitterness. A real treat for a malthead - lovely. 310507

Bottled. A dark amber beer with a thin tan head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of caramel, while the flavor is more complex, being sweet malty with notes of caramel and lighter notes of brown sugar and wood.

Bottle Pours a clear but fairly dark brown. Thin head and not much lacing. Nice roasty aroma but the flavor was lacking I thi\ought. DBs are a style I llike but this one dissapointed me a bit. Flavor was a bit thin and slightly metallic. Slightly bitter woody aftertaste

2005 bottle from OhioDad. Nice pick, Scott! Fresh grassy/hay hops in the nose with a distinctive, crisp lager yeast and some lightly sweet toasted grains. Bits of chocolate. Brown, dirt color with a ruby-burgundy hue in the light. Not much head in this one, but what is there is a tan-beige. Flavor begins with a big sourish yeast, bakers chocolate, caramel and brown bread. Little bit of salty roast and even some dark fruits on the end. Sweet enough at first, then dries out considerably with a bready/grainy finish. No lacing left on the glass. Carbonation is low to moderate and unobtrusive. Medium body, touch watery on the end, but not much so. More raisins, dates and caramel in the nose. Yeast remains crisp, but loses its apparency fairly quickly. Good grassy hops flavor adding a touch of bitterness. Chocolate covered raisins with a hint of light coffee. Average, fluid texture, beer is clear and quite filtered, though the effects of the filtration are pretty well hidden. Though it dosent really approach tasting thick. A good, fresh sample, which I think is quite important here. Gets a little bready sweet as I finish the glass.
