Garnet streaks within a deep, cocoa brown-black body. Oatmeal colored, foamy head, with, gasp!, good retention. Smells of chocolate and toffee, thick chewy and creamy (if you can really sense thick, chewy and creamy in the nose). Lots of tootsie roll-like notes. Begins with chocolate and toffee, lots of chewy, melted chocolate and marshmallows. Coco crispies and milk. Firm carbonation, with a medium body overall. Wow, this really is a chocolatey porter. Light sourness on the end, with bitter black malt, but very delicious and well taken. Balanced and flavorful, great stuff. Some earthy, barley notes, dry and yeasty as well. Bits of light roast grace the finish with more chocolate and milky vanilla coming at you from all angles. Some lacing on the glass, with a retronasal sourness.
