Draught at ABF on 6/16/07
Chill-hazed pineapple-golden body is topped by a small, but sustained white head. Lacing is marginal.
A hint of banana and nectarine perks up in the nose, but is smoothed out by rather well-attenuated malts, giving a doughy, light cracker-like nose with some vanilla and more ester activity on the finish (bubble gum). Soft, leafy hops are mostly dusty, though there is a dollop of juicy, green grass. The esters arent too overbearing, there are no fusels, little/no phenols and the yeast is quite soft and mostly conditioned out. Medium strength of aroma overall. Though the malt is rather straightforward, the style does not demand otherwise.
Sweet bubble gum, bananas dipped in sugar and a pinch of orange, brought in on a surprisingly supple body, open up the flavor, but things quickly dry out, some seltzer-like and white bread/dough notes taking care of that. It never goes too far attenuated, however, and remains amicably sweet (vanilla, cream, light honey dough) until the finish. It isnt too far a stretch to see a brewer like Vinnie Cilurzo taking this mold and making Redemption with it. But this is a seriously dumbed-down (though still mostly flawless) rendition. I say mostly flawless because there is still a bit too much crude banana and bubble gum, though my threshholds are very low for that sort of thing in this style. But the conditioning is great, no tacky, heavily doughy yeast feel to the texture or flavor. Pleasant, dusty, lightly grassy hoppiness lingers.

On tap at Capital Ale House - Downtown. Clear golden body with a small creamy off-white head. Light floral hops aroma with hints of sugar. Light banana and floral hops with a touch o sugar. Fairly light for a belgian.

Sampled on draft this beer poured a robust golden color with a small white head. The aroma was sweet, bready, yeasty and had a hint of citrus. The flavor was sweet, citric, yeasty and had a hint of butterscotch. There was a long yeasty finish. Very nice for a single.
