Draught at Coastal Kitchen, 11/8/15.
I’m honestly not sure if this is the correct beer. All I know is that it was described an IPA from Odin and the tap handle said "Limited release" or "Seasonal offering" or something like that. So I assume it’s not their mainstay Asgard which leaves only this or Sigrun IPA. The brewery very infrequently uses social media, so it’s impossible to say, really.
Lightly hazy, dark copper beer has a foamy white head with strong retention.
Heavy hop nose shows heavy orange rind, white grapefruit and some lighter notes of peach and nectarine. Sourdough-like maltiness does nothing to allay this and I’m left with another of the type of unbalanced IPAs that I really don’t care for.
Same in the flavor with way too much toastiness from the malt, bitterness from the hops and heavy acidity just exacerbating it all. Dextrinous, fairly well-attenuated body at least attempts to soak up some of this, but it still falls well short in the end.
