Draught at Row 34, 9/9/15.
Clear bronze-golden liquid is topped by a medium-sized white head with good retention.
Cereals, herbal and spicy hops in the nose and a moderate amount of toasted malt all come together seamlessly to create a very authentic maibock experience in the nose. Some grainy character mixes with honey and there’s a clear expression of their house character, whether it be yeast or water (or both) on the finish, that is just absolutely charming. No alcohol noted nor flaw.
Crisp and yet well-malted, as their beers all seem to be, with bready-to-grainy flavors of hay, cereal, toasted sourdough and rich honey. It all is carried on by a tight carbonation that helps clear the palate on the end, in concert with spicy hops. Just another phenomenally well-made beer from Medusa. At this point, even though I haven’t visited their brewery yet, I’m very much sold. Really need to get out to their place....
