5.2/10 β€” Appearance 6 Aroma 7 Flavor 5 Texture 4 Overall 4
Draught pint at the brewery on 2/7/14
Soft amber appearance with a smattering of light white head and a bit of lacing. High clarity.
Tart nose has plentiful grapefruit zest, grainy/biscuity malts and a strong lemony-lime note. The hops and sourness blend to give off a very light tart cherry note which is enjoyable. Not a huge strength of aroma, but passable.
Initially tart acids dry the palate out as bitter hop acids exacerbate the dryness and both look for a balancing maltiness to arrive, but it never does. Incredibly over-attenuated to the point of tasting like a borderline mix of seltzer water hops and tart acids. Ok, not quite that bad, but just has no sweetness or body to it and the malts get too grainy/scratchy as a result. Moderate carbonation does not help things either.
