Can pour into nonic pint glass from Bert's Better Beers. Appearance is hazy, dark brown-orange-red with beautiful sparkle, thin, beige foamy head with poor retention and no lacing. Aroma is caramel, vegetal/tea. Taste is earthy tea, caramel. Palate is medium bodied with smooth, thick texture, average-to-lively carbonation and mostly sweet, caramel finish. Overall, tea is noticeable over the caramel but they work together well. Not the most intricate beer, but a nice twist.

Pour is a very dark brown with a very small tan head. Aroma is some treacle malt with some molasses and smoke. Flavor is dark fruit, brown sugar and some quick fleeting herbal spice which I guess is from the black tea. This was way flavorful and rich with plenty of malt and smoky herbalness.

OK, so wen I had this, in early 2018, says its 2017, but I had it on tap at bowsers, so does that change the date, yes, 1/28/18? Just asking. Looks like rootbeer, head and all. Clean beery smell fer sher. Very strog boozy peaty thang going on, all on top of a domestic belgian yeast, ehehe. Do you think what I taset is the dreaded not my cup o'tea? Just askin. I'm putting in this rating on RB while reading one of their sponsors clickbait of 3 signs of a fatty liver! In the end its simply bitter and strong and alky with lots of medicinal redundant attributes of domestic belgian wannah bee topped with nearly scotch spiced wee heavy. Not impressed.

Can: Pecan and dried leaves nose. Brown, medium tan head, nice retention and lacing. Sweet malt, peat, dried leaves, horehound, elderberry. Full body, easy carbonation. This was a nice compliment to brunswick stew.

Tap at Cap Tap. Pours brown with a tan head. Aroma mostly malt, but I think tea is in it. Med + body. Flavor is very unusual - dark malt of the treacly sort with notes of tea and chocolate for me. Not very dry, but not very bitter - think the tea thing is balancing factor here.

12 ounce can. Dark brown color. Small creamy beige head. Roasted malt nose. Sweet roasted malt flavor. Yeah, I taste tea. Also, some cocoa, caramel, herbs, dried fruit and molasses. Some smokiness in finish, though it is subtle. Interesting take on a Scotch Ale.

Very curious brew, sweet and smoky and rich, accenting your usual Scotch ale caramel and smoked peat notes with a floral bitterness on the back end complemented by a lingering black tea finish. Seems like one of those flavor combinations you can’t believe isn’t more popular than it is: Scotch ale and black tea. They just meld, like peanut butter and chocolate or stinky cheese and figs. Pours an odd red-brown, due to the tea I’m sure, and the nose is a subdued mix of malt and peat. Fairly easy-drinking for a 9% slab o’ beer. Good, likely better than my score.
