This dark American Barley Wine is well hopped with Chinook and Centennial hops and has been aged on brandy infused oak to add subtle notes of vanilla and spice. Dry The Rain comes in at a nice warming 9.8% and fermentation with a neutral ale yeast allows the combination of different caramel malts to shine through.

Can bought at Elusive. Aroma is boozy and woody with a sweet vanilla edge and hints of dark fruit. Opaque dark cola brown. Thin off-white head. Light bitter hoppage, burnt caramel, salted caramel, (Caramac?), nuts wood, boozy bite. Smooth. Thick bodied. Oily. Lazy carbonation. Surprisingly restrained finish, with an astringent streak.

Can thanks to Ashton McCobb. Pours clear chestnut with a thin beige head. Aromas of caramel, wood spice, ginger cake. Taste is chocolate cake, dried mixed peel. Dry, if a bit boozy on the finish.

Can from the brewery online shop. Appearance - deep brown with some amber chinks. Beige to tan head. Nose - wood, fruitcake and smoke. Taste - smoke, tar, burnt raisins, prunes, dried orange and cake mixture. Palate - medium to full bodied, rich roasty middle and finish. Overall - lovely bit of gear, this one!
