Can split at the Autumn Watford tasting, thanks to LKS, 24/09/21. Light black with a tan head that soon escapes edgewards. Nose is chocolate, toffee, sweet malts, caramel, brown sugars. Taste comprises light chocolate, toffee, fruit slice, brown sugars. Medium plus bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Passable affair ... lacks depth for the hefty ABV.

Can shared in Watford - picked up from Watford. Pours clear deep brown with a frothy, beige head. Medium sweet flavour with notes of dark berries, a little cocoa, very mild roast. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation. Lightly warming finish, very faint plastic, more dark fruits. So so overall.

Keg at the Craft beer shop, Little Chalfont, Bucks. A brown/cola looking beer with a very thin beige head on top. Caramel, honey, rum & raisin aroma and taste. Pleasant enough stout but not overly complex for 12%.

Can ordered from Elusive brewery. Aroma of mocha over a honey sweet base. Dark. Solid. Cola brown in the light. Creamy beige head. Initial impressions of the flavour are sweetness followed by a sour edge. Underlying mocha bitterness. The honey and a floweriness then really come through but the bitterness does not sway so they are more in the undertow. As it warms up the honey and mocha combine for a praline effect. A boozey edge. Medium bodied. Creamy. Almost gloopy. Flat-average carbonation. Long astringent finish. Good stuff indeed. Despite the heather being a headliner it's not too evident... although that may well just be me missing the obvious. But that's an irrelevance really, this is a lovely smooth Impy. Works well as a follow-up to the more bitter example that preceded it.
