TRICKSTER IS A KETTLE SOUR THAT SHOWCASES THE JEWEL OF THE HEDGEROW - THE BLACKBERRY. THIS BEER HAS SPENT A MONTH CONDITIONING ON BLACKBERRIES, WHICH ADD COLOUR, TARTNESS AND EARTHINESS TO THIS OTHERWISE LIGHTLY SOURED BEER. GIVE IT A GO, AND LET US KNOW WHAT YOU THINK.

Bottle from the Grumpy Goat, Reading. New brewery for me. Bright red with a moderate effervescence and a rapidly vanishing baby-pink head. Mild tartness and dryness. Blackberries, obviously. Redcurrant jam and raspberry leaves. A hint of oaty biscuits which is unusual in a sour but rather pleasant. A whisper of black pepper and vanilla. Lasting aftertaste of raspberry ripple ice cream. Quite an elegant-tasting brew actually, I can imagine this being good for food pairing. I rather enjoyed it. Nice one.

Bottle from A Hoppy Place, Windsor. Pulpy dank blackcurrant aroma. Opaque ruby res. Creamy pink tinged head. Medium sour. Tart. Acidic. Juicy but only the vaguest sweetness. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Average-fizzy carbonation. Long dry astringent finish. Decent juicy sour.
