Can @ home (free can from NB rep at Wilburs nearly a month ago). Chugged out of the can in the dark. I feel like this beer is New Belgium displaying what it learned from Alpina during their collaboration of Super IPA. The Amarillo hops are beautifully on display. Tons of hop flavor without a crazy amount of bitterness. Some toasty caramelized malts. Low sweetness but I’d prefer the malts to be a little lighter. Surprisingly pretty good (even after rotting in my fridge for a month).

Bottle from Val-U. Pours a clear gold with a finger of foam that dissipates quickly. Sweet tropical fruit nose with pineapple and lychee shining. Clean and crisp, but a little sweet on the palate (amarillo I presume). Thin-bodied, but low perceived bitterness. It’s ok.

355ml bottle. Pours a clear gold with a medium, frothy, long lasting, white head that laces nicely. Sweet fruity, dank aroma of tropical fruit, melon, grapefruit, orange, apricot and pine needles with biscuity malt in the background. Sweet flavour of caramel malt, tropical fruit, orange, lemon, grapefruit, melon, pine needles and grass with a dry, bitter, hop resin finish. Light to medium body with a thin to oily texture and average carbonation. Pretty decent, exceeded my expectations.

Nice clear amber color with a long lasting off-white head and some lace. Nice fresh hop aroma with some fruit and a little wet grain and malt. Flavor is fairly well balanced with bitterness slightly dominating over sweetness and tanginess. Great body and excellent finish.

12 oz. Bottle from Albertsons. Medium golden pour, minimal bubbly head. Soft, gentle hoppy aroma, mildly fruity and sweet. Taste brings some citrus, orangy essence, subdued floral (hibiscus). Leaning towards a New England style. Nice feel, flows well over the tongue.

12 ounce bottle into signature globe glass, bottled on 12/17/2016. Pours crystal clear golden orange/amber color with a 2 finger dense and rocky white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a large cap that lasts. Nice dense soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big tangerine, grapefruit, pineapple, peach, passion fruit, mango, melon, papaya, lemon/orange zest, light pepper/pine, honey, light caramel, toasted biscuit, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/tropical hops and moderate bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big tangerine, grapefruit, pineapple, peach, passion fruit, mango, melon, papaya, lemon/orange zest, light pepper, pine, honey, light caramel, toasted biscuit, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Light-moderate pine/herbal/spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of tangerine, grapefruit, pineapple, peach, passion fruit, mango, melon, papaya, lemon/orange zest, pine, honey, toasted biscuit, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/tropical hops and moderate bready malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and zero astringent hop flavors after the finish. Light dryness from lingering bitterness, increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, and moderately creamy/grainy/bready/sticky balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol for 7%. Overall this is an awesome IPA. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/tropical hops and moderate bready malt flavors; very smooth, easy, and pretty refreshing to drink with the modest bitterness. Very bright, juicy, and a bit dank on hops; balanced malts without feeling too sweet. A highly enjoyable offering.

Somewhat mixed feelings on this one. I liked the hop nose, very forward and fresh with pine and citrus. The flavor was similar but bordered on a more brash resin, leading into a strong bitterness at the background that was somewhere between herbal and grapefruit rind. It just seemed like the bitterness was over-stated and/or didn’t integrate with the rest of the beer. Partly that might be because the malt base didn’t stand up for itself.

12 oz bottle. Aroma is garlic, alcohol, overripe fruit--peach, papaya maybe. Pours clear deep gold with a medium white head that falls after a minute into a big-bubbly ring and some lace. Tastes better than it smells, with a medium bitterness backed by light candy sweetness with flavors of juicy peach and papaya. Not bad.
