Bottle from Ship in a Bottle. Creamy off-white head. Amber-grey body, unclear. Floral hops and pale malts on the nose. Fruity taste with grapefruit and lemon up front. Delicate leafy bitterness to the finish. Foamy on the mouth. Fine bodied. Pleasant (shared with Per, Leif and Magne, hotel room Liverpool 02.02.2015).

Bottle at Beer Rebellion, thanks to Niall. It pours hazy amber with a medium white head. The nose is bitter-sweet, doughy, orange peel, floral and Victoria sponge. The taste is bitter, citrusy, doughy, orange sponge cake, grapefruit, pine, resin and a touch of alcohol with a dry, bitter finish. Medium body and fine, carbonation. Pretty punchy, nice orange sherbet action.

Bottle, Londis, Penny Lane, Liverpool. Hazy amber pour with a restrained off-white head. Promising enough nose of piney hop and citrus. The flavour didn’t quite deliver, with notes of grain and sweet malt alongside some earthy hop bitterness. Everything is a bit lead footed and the hops didn’t shine through enough. I really wanted this to be top notch, but sadly it falls a short of capturing the key elements of a good west coast ipa.
