Good foam on a clear dark brown body. Nice sweet coffee on the nose, smooth caramel. Taste is fruity caramel, sweet molasses, ending smooth. Flavourful and refreshing.

Bottle from the Northumberland Beer Box. Rich chocolate nougat aroma with underlying dark berries. Opaque cola brown. Creamy beige head soon disappears. Immediate sourness - tart berries. Espresso and dark chocolate bitterness. Develops malty chocolatey sweetness into the finishthe aroma suggested more. Medium bodied. Creamy. Average carbonation. Slightly astringent finish.

Sample courtesy of Grumbo, cheers Graham! Deep brown amber colour, thin beige foam head that dissipates away and aroma of molasses, caramel. Taste is sweet malty, caramel, molasses, light roast, dried fruity, some woody notes. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry roasty nutty finish. Nicely drinkable.

Bottle. Nice head with good duration. Color is amber. Aroma and taste are nuts, caramel, roast malt, hops and has a nice nutty and bitter finish.

Bottle from the Brewery online shop. Pours clear dark brown with a thin beige head. Aromas of dark chocolate and light leather. Taste is light sweet, more leather and a hint of roast. Clean finish.

25/1/2019. Cask at the 10th Elysian Winter Beer Festival. Pours dark brown with a ruby tint and a lasting creamy off-white head. Aroma of chocolate, malt, dark fruit, coffee, ash and wood. Light to moderate sweetness, medium roasted bitterness. Medium body, slight oily texture, soft carbonation. Dry finish. Traditional. Good brew.

ABV: 4.9%. Clear medium to dark red brown colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, toasted - roasted, caramel, sweet malt, dark malt. Flavor is moderate sweet and light bitter with a average to long duration, brown sugar - sweet malt, sugary malt, dark malt, toasted - roasted, sweet nutty notes. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20180723]

On cask at the Twice Brewed Inn. Appearance - dark brown with some orange chinks. Nose - light smoke and caramel. Liquorice maybe. Taste - me caramel and smoke. Molasses. Palate - medium bodied, creamy and rich through the finish. Overall - lovely ale.
