Als je dan eens de kans hebt om een bokkereyder te drinken dan doe je dat gewoon. Grote fles of nie. Wat een fantastische lambic weer. Bravo

Another grape lambic by Bokkereyder, with Muscat and Riesling grapes; 75 cl bottle at Foeders in Amsterdam, huge thanks to my significant other Goedele for this bottle! Off-pinkish, loosely moussy head, thin and quickly dissipating over a hazy cherry- to ruby red beer, notably more pale and less ‘deep purple’ than the Mélange version we had right before this one. Aroma of much more grape peel and grape skins as well, less sweet grape juice, more dry red wine than sweet red wine, sweaty lambic funkiness, old cheese, raspberry vinegar, toasted sesame seeds and bread crust, tomato juice, unripe plums. Lots of sourness in the onset, grape acidity along with lemony and lactic lambic tartness, sour grapes but an effect of sour cherries and redcurrant as well, supple mouthfeel with spritzy, quite lively but refined carbonation, more so than the Mélange; soft bready and wheaty base underneath ongoing fruit acidity and lambic tartness drying the mouth, aided by tannic grape skin and wood tannins in the finish, saliva-inducing, yoghurty and eventually quite earthy, but remaining ‘fruit juicy’. Notably more tart and sour than the Mélange, less fruit-forward but more lambic character in the traditional sense of the word, approaching Cantillon’s Saint-Lamvinus within inches. A beautiful beer implicitly paying homage to the old ‘muscat’ and other grape lambics that were produced in the grape-growing area of Hoeilaart a long time ago.

Hazy red with thin lacy head. Aroma and flavour are woody and sour. A very clean tartness. Not dry. Still juicy.
