Draught at the brewery, 7/16/16.
A bit more clarity than the base version, lighter from the coffee, with a dark amber-mahogany color and small, beige head that shows low retention.
Coffee is a bit dry and not intensely roasty, but very earthy and ashy. The lactose is much less prominent and while the cinnamon is still there, it’s folded in to the coffee notes. A bit of beaniness from the coffee, lightly stale at points but still some sweeter milk chocolate remains to balance.
Very dry and earthy in the flavor, with a rather diluted feel and flavor. Seems like they used very unconcentrated coffee with lots of water, because the beer just seems a bit muted and watered down. Still, it’s drinkable and all but I like the base beer much better.
