Draught at the brewery, 7/16/16.
Medium amber with cherry-auburn highlights and a small, beige head that shows moderate retention. Medium clarity.
Wonderfully malty in the nose, with tons of honey-cream that sets up for a tart, earthy, lightly acidic rosehip character mixed with very light lactic acid and a good dose of salinity. Really nicely balanced and none of the metal or cheap lactic character that so many beers of this style have. No alcohol and no flaw.
Even better flavor, probably thanks to the supple, ultra-soft texture. But the attenuation is still strong and the salt and rosehips work wonders on the palate, balancing nicely as gentle lactic notes are felt on the finish. Low-ish but tight carbonation and biscuit and bread lingering along with the earthy, tart and lightly citrusy rosehip. Awesome!
