Draught at the brewery, 7/16/16.
The cloudiest of the 4 today (violet, peeptoad, early riser and this) with a strongly soupy appearance, pale golden and with light amber hues. White head atop is medium-sized and dense, showing strong retention.
Don’t think I’d heard of cashmere hops before this, so nice to try a new hop. Doesnt disappoint. Plentiful yellow fruit juiciness of nectarine, honeydew, watermelon, ruby red grapefruit and light mango-pineapple. Reminds of a certain Lights On....And this one’s even lower gravity than that. Good citric bitterness on the end, with light biscuity malts, fresh house yeast adding light minerality and no alcohol, resin or flaw.
In the mouth, it’s a bit muddled/muted and there seems to be a bit too much yeast or hop particulate leading to light ash and nutty bland notes. Some oiliness but still a very soft, malty texture overall with tight carbonation and high attenuation. Surprising how strong and clear the aroma is given the muted character of the flavor. Still enjoyable, however, with light citrics, a healthy dose of tropical fruits and biscuity-crackery malts. If the beer itself was conditioned a bit more, this would be right up there with Lights On, Sumner, Walden, etc....
