Draught at the brewery, 5/29/16.
Glowingly bright, orange-golden with an almost red grapefruit tint to it and a soft haziness throughout. White head atop is large and shows strong retention.
Definitely in search of the New England IPA here, and it nearly hits the mark. Certainly had plenty that fall very short of this quality. Just a bit too much pine and bitterness, with a touch of sourness and heavy melon-like character. But it never gets fatiguing, just remains pretty bold and bitter. Was waiting for the alcohol punch and sourdough-like malt to hit, but neither ever did, actually and the fruitiness carried to the finish, with light caramel, lots of grapefruit but also ample cherry and mango. Tight carbonation and good attenuation, with a creamy texture. I enjoyed Rogue Wave, as well and am looking forward to trying more IPAs next time I go. They are definitely on to something here.
