Draught at the brewery, 4/2/16.
Lightly-to-moderately hazy brass-golden body is topped by a moderate amount of white head with average retention.
Smells rather dank and moderately juicy, though there’s some pine in there edging out what could be more of a tropical juice bomb. The pine mixes with the malts to give a bit of sweet and sour character which I’m not crazy about, but otherwise it’s clean and there’s no alcohol.
In the flavor it’s quite dry, given how caramel-honey sweet the nose smelled. Perhaps that’s just lots of the tropical fruit and sticky pine character. Strong carbonation and a medium-full body for the style translate in to a rather robust beer, but the bitterness doesn’t build up, thankfully (or rather, it never gets too resinous). Lots of leafiness, light tropical notes, a fair amount of dextrines and light pine make for a fun, non-cookie cutter version.
