Draught at Brewer’s Fork, 1/25/16.
Dark ebony-mahogany body shows low clarity and a dark beige head with moderate to moderately-strong retention.
Fruity, roasty and with some dry, treacle character at first which gives way to cherry-vanilla, heavy caramel and very little yeast character. Not particularly identifiable as a saison and barely Belgian at that.
Sweet, malty, with chocolate, cherry and vanilla. Some sweeter, richer fudge notes than it needs, but roasted dryness and bready char on the end do balance pretty competently. Drinkable and with some phenolic dryness, but seems barely Belgian; really just a softly-sweet sweet stout-like beer. That being said, it was enjoyable enough, if a bit too sweet, but again, not a saison remotely. Moderate carbonation and a medium-full body with no alcohol noted.

Beer Table, NYC in GCT tap: pours black with a tan head. Aroma is yeasty, banana, cherries, roast, light chocolate, and roast. Taste is sweet and kind of roasty. Slightly sweet. Not very bitter. Nice body. Good train beer.
