Draft. Dark mahogany beer with ruby highlights and a tan head. Light cocoa and light raspberry aroma with tartness. Raspberry and dark malt flavor with light sourness. Medium bodied. Raspberry and sourness linger with dark malts and light cocoa.

Draught at Neighborhood, 5/13/17.
Dark, lightly clear, maroon-tinted, milk chocolate brown body is topped by a dark beige/light-tan head with moderate retention.
Raspberry seed and acid in the nose joins the light-to-moderate acetic character of the base beer with light chocolate and bread from the malts, in the background. It’s pretty intense, somewhat aggressive at points, though surprisingly the raspberries don’t really contribute to it. Still just smells like the base Sour Trouble with light spice and light juiciness added from the raspberry. Clean, though, and with no alcohol.
In the mouth, light caramel, milk chocolate and vanilla all emanating light sweetness, form a base for moderate lactic and acetic acid, and with the spicy, peppery, moderately tart raspberry character, a delicate balance is achieved. There are interludes of light sweetness, as there should be for the style, but overall it’s dry. Soft and slick on the palate, with light, but engaging carbonation. Raspberries actually help soften the bacterial acids, believe it or not and I think I actually end up liking the beer more than the base version.
