Draught at the brewery, 2/12/17.
Very hazy, near-soupy, bright, amber-golden with an off-white head that is small and shows moderate to moderately low retention.
Heavy, heavy canteloupe-like notes in the nose mix with doughy yeast, moderate pine and pineapple and a bit of rubbery character. Honey and light caramel are faint but present, in the background. Very heavy on the melon but at least it’s free from resin.
In the mouth it’s dry, very yeasty with strong dough and messy esters. The melon is dominant and not particularly juicy or bright. More round and strange tasting, though difficult to actually describe. Very low on the maltiness, though there is a somewhat soft texture from all of this yeast and assumedly some wheat. Carbonation is rather low, loose and while it’s not too bitter, it has very little actual flavor and is mostly just a watery, estery, dry melon and yeast bomb. Something went quite wrong here. Tough to drink much of it.
